Making Hydrogen
The components of any hydrogen water device play an important role in its longevity and effectivity. Healthy Hydration utilizes PEM (polymer electrolysis membrane) along with platinum-plated titanium to carry out electrolysis. PEM is being used by the innovators within the hydrogen world because it does not produce chlorine gas, as other cheaper devices do. The company also opts for durable, BPA-free Tritan plastic for the Hydra Shot reusable bottle. This material is a copolyester, having nothing to do with bisphenol (a.k.a. BPA's). Although Tritan is not readily biodegradable, it can be recycled and upcycled for years. Those who run the company have worked in the market for years (with Amanda Bobbett being in the hydrogen water world for over a decade), which means they have learned from the mistakes of competitors and attempted to make devices that last long and work well.

Filtration
The Hydra Home Unit uses an activated carbon filter that is certified by National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) International. It meets standards 61 and 42. These refer to a filter's ability to be safely installed and used in a public space (61), it's third-party verification (61), and its contaminant removal capabilities (42). Activated carbon is a porous element that traps compounds like contaminants in water and gas. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), activated carbon is the only filtering material that removes compounds like herbicides, pesticides and other chemicals/contaminants. It also removes chlorine and volatile organic compounds (VOC's).

The Hydra Luxe Unit is a countertop alternative to the Hydra Home Unit, which attaches to your sink water supply. It utilizes a 3-stage filtration process: 1) PC carbon composite filtration, 2) reverse osmosis filtration, and lastly 3) post carbon filtration that is meant to comb through any remaining contaminants. Step 1 removes larger particles and contaminants (as well as chlorine), while step 2 forces water through a semipermeable membrane, removing most of the impurities from the water.
The Up Scale Whole Home Filtration Unit utilizes a KDF55 filter, which is comprised of a copper-zinc alloy that reduces contaminants such as chlorine, bacteria and heavy metals. It uses a chemical process called redox, in which free electrons are transferred between molecules, rendering harmful compounds, harmless. It also utilizes catalytic activated carbon, which possesses the same benefits of activation carbon, but with the improved ability to promote different chemical reactions (working well with the KDF filter). This long-lasting filtration process offers homes water filtration for between 10 and 15 years.
