Although we've had our home system running for some time now, I wanted to take a small trip down memory lane and explain how I was able to install it for those who might feel overwhelmed by the whole process. 😊
Although I love the system, one qualm I had with installing my filter is that the instruction manual only gave directions for installing it alongside a diverter, which essentially creates a second small faucet that pops up through your counter (no need to hook anything up to your sink faucet).
I don't own the house I live in, so I didn't want to drill any extra holes into my countertop! I did find a great video that depicts the process of hooking up the filter to a sink faucet using the fittings that are included. And although my faucet isn't standard (it has one of those pull out nozzles, which don't "technically" go with any type of faucet filter), everything still fit. Below are some images that I took while installing my filter!
While going through the pieces and taking apart the pull out nozzle, my husband and I noticed that the nozzle essentially looked like a normal faucet with external threading. This meant that we could screw and clamp on one of the clear fittings that attatched to the provided faucet extension (the silver piece with a little lever in the pictures above).
From here, all we needed to do was hook up the tubing between the filter and the new faucet extension! They recommend to mount the filter itself on the wall with the materials they provided, but my sink area doesn't have exposed surface like that. So I ended up just setting it on my windowsill to keep it away from the sink water!
Testing our Hydrogen Water Concentration!
When we decided to buy our home unit, we also bought a hydrogen meter to test how much it was producing (hydrogen levels vary, but will be around the same general concentrations, give or take a little bit). I was surprised in a good way by how high even the lowest setting provided, because the listed "low" is around 800 ppb (.8 ppm).
Overall, the machine is great. I love that I can measure the hydrogen concentrations, and it wasn't actually hard to install (although my overthinking brain does sometimes overcomplicate things 🤷🏻♀️). The cherry on top is the fact that I can warm the water up to use for skin care, and also set the machine to its "ozone" setting to rinse off produce that may have pesticides on them (more on this to come in a future blog!).
